AGC of Kansas
Safety Committee Update
March 14, 2024 – 11:00 am (AGC office)

Minutes

The following were in attendance at the Safety Committee meeting:
• Jorge Delatorre, Hutton
• Matt Lashley, Higgins Group
• Mike Gibson
The meeting focused on the impending AGC-OSHA Safety Alliance. A group meeting between OSHA (Dave McDonald), Mental Health Association (Eric Litwiller), Allen Vineyard (KSDOL) and AGC will be held on April 4th – 11:00 am (working luncheon) to finalize the details on the AGC-OSHA Alliance. From this meeting, the group will identify a date/time to host a formal alliance signing with a PRESS CONFERENCE. This meeting will target all the stakeholders, including the AGC Board of Directors (Matt Lashley will reach out to all AGC Board Members to invite them to this alliance signing).
The AGC-OSHA Alliance will have a major focus on Fall Protection, Excavation, Mental Health and other key industry issues. Each month the Safety Committee will recognize these items and offer related training programs.
In addition, the Committee would like to recognize David McDonald (OSHA) who is expected to retire 12/31/24. This recognition would target the AGC year-end installation of officers event. Also, Mike Gibson will be meeting with Mayor Lily Wu next month to share with her the Build Up Kansas program and the Kansas Construction Safety Network and how the City of Wichita has been a great partner in this endeavor including partnering on NARCAN training programs.
With no further business pending the meeting adjourned.
