Surpassing 500,000 website Visits

As you know, AGC of Kansas launched a Construction Industry Image/Workforce Recruitment Campaign – “Build Up Kansas” in 2018.  Build Up Kansas targets the 17-22 year old women and men currently enrolled in vocational programs in over 125 high-schools, vo-tech centers and community colleges that partner with AGC.  Over the last year we have visited with over 2,000 students across Kansas and provided valuable industry information on the many professional careers in our industry.  Many of these students have shared the Build Up Kansas program with their parents on these career opportunities.  Build Up Kansas has surpassed 500,000 website visits with an average of 4 plus minutes per visit.  In addition, over 5000 visits have occurred to the HR Platform where AGC members are posting their job openings across the state.  In addition, Build Up Kansas has recently added a splash page showcasing our college partner’s construction programs at Ft. Hays State, Kansas State and Pittsburg State (we are assisting these partners in promoting their departments to the young women and men who may not know about these programs).

Part of AGC’s Build Up Kansas program is a “Speaker’s Bureau” of general contractors, specialty/subcontractors and suppliers.  These AGC members volunteer to visit these schools to reinforce the Build Up Kansas program, share a little about their company and their type of work and reinforce the message that the construction industry is NOT just a job but it’s a CAREER – ”a  professional career that makes a huge difference in our day to day lives”.

AGC of Kansas has also shared the Build Up Kansas program with State Senators/House Members all across Kansas and recently met with Governor Kelly and discussed how Build Up Kansas is connecting professional careers in construction to the younger generation in Kansas.  Also, AGC of Kansas has shared Build Up Kansas with our Kansas Congressional Delegation. U.S. Senator, Jerry Moran, stated “I am so impressed with what the construction industry has done with Build Up Kansas in addressing your industry’s workforce shortages and providing valuable professional careers to the youth of our great state”.
